One Stephen Patrick Morrissey actually showed up to play in Sydney at the Opera House in late December of 2012.
I'm not sure why he's chosen to start playing old Smiths songs, but we certainly were not complaining (and no offense to Johnny Marr - Moz has a much better voice) !
Say what you will about the man - his veganism, his anti-Royals stance, his odd rants on stage, his propensity to not even show up and his assorted last minute cancellations - he still puts on a heck of a show...
He walked out on stage and belted out "Shoplifters of the World Unite" - and then just kept going for more than two hours. We got "How Soon Is Now?", "Meat Is Murder" (at TWICE the volume of everything else it seemed), "Still Ill", and "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" in addition to a number of my personal favorites from his solo career, including "You Have Killed Me" and "Everyday Is Like Sunday".
The best part? The little sister got to tag along - she definitely appreciated the fourth row seats and all...
